| A little about Sergio: Former lance corporal of the United States Army, Sergio was to be a life time military man. After dedicating eight years to the military, he decided to follow his dream to be a chef. Sergio graduated from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco in 2001 and Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France in 2003. Among the various restaurants Sergio has worked he was part of the opening staff at Carrera’s Café in Oakland, California; pastry commis at the French Laundry in Yountville, California; Corporate Sous Chef for Fry’s Electronics in San Jose, California and is currently the Executive Sous Chef for Stevie’s Aviation Catering. With each position Sergio has elevated his skills and techniques. He inspires those who work with him to new heights, whether it is for a private dining experience for two, to a corporate party for 500. A little about Margaret:As a former employee of the IT department for the City of San Jose, Margaret pursued a career in the culinary field. Margaret graduated from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco in 2001 and Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France in 2003. Behind the line Margaret has worked at La Virage in Walnut Creek, California a small family French restaurant as well as La Toque in Rutherford, California. Margaret moved to the front of the house in 2003 while working at Delectables Catering in Santa Clara, California. As the special events manager, Margaret arranged simple lunches to grand elegant affairs. Margaret is the baker in the family, she makes all the wedding cakes to birthday cakes. A little about Sergio, Margaret and Cook’s Books:Sergio and Margaret met at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and were married in 2004. Both shared a love for anything food related, from their extensive cooking tools collection to cookbooks. After frequenting Librarie Gourmand in Paris, the pair knew they wanted to create something similar back in the states. CooksBooks.com was born from this thought and although the original plan was to open as a brick and mortar store, the store is currently in the works. When not in the kitchen, both Margaret and Sergio enjoy spending time with their two young children and watching the San Jose Sharks play. Go Sharks! |
